Jennifer has been sending her kids to Camp Wyoming for the past 8 years. She says, “I grew up going to girl scout camp and horse camp in the summers and I loved everything about it. I knew I wanted my own kids to have the experience of leaving home for the week to meet new friends and enjoy summer camp activities.” Jennifer’s kids have the same love for their experiences at Camp Wyoming, and her oldest daughter is now transitioning from camper to summer staff member here.
Her kids’ love for Camp Wyoming is what inspired Jennifer to join the camp board. “Camp Wyoming is my daughters’ most favorite place on earth. I have seen them grow into self-reliant, confident teenagers who have a strong relationship with God and I believe that their time spent at Camp Wyoming has played a big part in this. I want this camp to be around for a very long time so it can impact other kids the way it has impacted my own.” To Jennifer, the best part of the Camp Wyoming ministry is the way that it gives kids the opportunity to worship God outside of a traditional church setting. Kids have the chance to connect with God in very different ways than they are used to, whether that be through exploring nature or fun activities or genuine conversations with their peers.
Jennifer grew up and lives in Davenport, Iowa with her husband Karl and their three teenage children: Lindsay, Jessica, and JJ. She works at an advertising agency in downtown Davenport called Riffle. She’s been there for the past 9 years as their office manager. Most of her spare time is spent driving her kids to all of their different activities and watching them participate. When she does have some free time, she enjoys reading, walking with friends, and traveling with friends.
Jennifer’s favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 – “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”
