Julie Hollensbe

Julie is a student at the University of Iowa where she is majoring in Human Physiology. Her ultimate goal is to go to graduate school for Physical Therapy. Julie grew up in Williamsburg, Iowa, and although she didn’t go to Camp Wyoming when she was a kid, she had the opportunity to attend a camp for a week each summer. She loved her experiences there and it was one of the reasons she decided to work at Camp Wyoming. She says, “I was a camper for 5 years and a counselor for 1 and in both cases I was able to develop my faith deeper and came back from camp changed because of it. I want to help kids at Camp Wyoming experience the same things I experienced related to my faith and also get to have fun being outside, which is a bonus!”

Julie stays busy with University of Iowa cross country and track teams. When she does have free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, or playing board games. Julie says that once she starts a good book that she loves, she just can’t put it down. Her favorite author is Nicolas Sparks. She likes any genre of movie and will play almost any game, as long as she’s in the company of friends.

This will be Julie’s first time at Camp Wyoming, and she says, “I’m looking forward to a lot of things about camp this summer! But I would say the things I’m looking forward to the most are helping others grow closer to God and growing closer myself, being outside and engaging in lots of fun activities, and building valuable friendships along the way.” Her favorite way to connect with God is through singing worship music. She admits that she’s not the most talented singer, but she loves music and loves singing about God’s greatness and power.

Julie’s favorite Bible verse is 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
