Kristy is a Hospice Nurse for Genesis Hospice. She grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, but now lives in Bettendorf, Iowa with her husband Matt and their daughters Erin, MacKenzie, Katie, and Megan. Having four young adult and teenage daughters means they have a pretty full house already, but the Gropel family also shares their home with a dog, two cats, six chickens, and a rabbit! Kristy spends her spare time watching her kids’ activities, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Kristy has long been involved with Presbyterian camps, serving in every role from dish staff to counselor to camp director. At Camp Wyoming, she often serves during the summer as a camp nurse. For Kristy, the best part about camp ministry is just getting kids off their phones and connecting with God and nature. This is why she chose to serve on the Camp Wyoming board. Kristy said, “I believe in camps and wanted to help.”
Kristy’s favorite Bible verse is Matthew 7:3 – “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?” She says, ” With a house full of teenage girls I quote it ALL the time!”
