Obie Wagner

Obie grew up in Amber, Iowa and is a Chemical Engineering major at Iowa State. While he has never officially been to summer camp, he has spent a lot of time outdoors and camping. His family loved going on camping trips together. Obie was drawn to Camp Wyoming because of the challenge and adventure that working at a camp offers. He says, “I am excited about watching everyone grow in skill, wisdom, and faith.” Obie also can’t wait to meet all of the new people this summer.

In his free time, Obie likes to ride bikes, hang out with friends, and listen to music. He says that one of his hobbies is R/C toys, although he admits that they usually don’t last very long in his care! Obie also loves taking care of his pet pig, Wilbina! Wilbina is housebroken, and, according to Obie, likes a lot of attention. You’ll have to ask him, when you meet him, how he came to have a pet pig in the first place. One quirky thing about Obie: he really likes the color blue. A lot. He says, “It’s my favorite color by far.”

Obie says, “My favorite way to connect with God is before I fall asleep, I think about the wonderful day that I have had, and how tomorrow will be just as good as long as He is by my side.” He can’t wait to be part of the Camp Wyoming community where he can share his positivity, enthusiasm, and knowledge with others.

Obie’s favorite Bible verse is 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” He says, “I like this because it means that you can be an example throughout your whole life, not just when you are older.”
