Shannon enjoys connecting with God best through prayer. She says, “I love being able to turn to God in times of need but also to give thanks at any time of the day through prayer.” Her conversation and pursuit of God has led her here this summer to Camp Wyoming! We are so excited to have her on staff this summer. Until now, Shannon’s camp experiences have just included a day camp from her home town of Atalissa, Iowa. Her favorite activity there was arts & crafts. She has never been to overnight camp before, and she is anxious to jump in here at Camp Wyoming as a counselor.
Shannon is an elementary education major with a Spanish minor at the University of Northern Iowa. What is she most looking forward to this summer? She says: “Having the camp experience and getting to meet new people! I am excited for all the activities we will get to do, because a lot of them will be new for me.” She loves working with kids, trying new things, and learning about Jesus, so this will be the perfect place for her to be this summer.
When she’s not studying hard at school, Shannon likes to spend time with friends and family, read, watch movies, and lounge outside in her hammock. She’s a woman of many talents, including knitting and crocheting. She also has lots of animal friends! Her pets include 4 fish, 3 cats, and a rabbits. When you meet Shannon this summer, you’ll have to ask them what all of her pet’s names are.
Shannon’s favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
