50 Things I Learned at Summer Camp

  1. I’m pretty good at making new friends.
  2. Blow bubbles out through your nose when you flip underwater in the pool.
  3. Mosquito bites don’t itch as much if you don’t scratch them.
  4. It would be absolutely impossible to count all of the stars in the night sky.
  5. The first night is the hardest but your counselor is always there to help.
  6. Camp food is actually good food.
  7. Bubble soccer is just as amazing as the video makes it look.
  8. Drink lots of water all the time. Dehydration is no fun.
  9. The most important part of the challenge course is communication.
  10. There’s nothing more satisfying than the “ting” sound you hear when your rock connects with the target in the sling shot range.
  11. I have what it takes to be a leader for my group.
  12. Getting dirty and messy is the goal of creek stomping.
  13. All you have to do to face your fears is go one step at a time…and pretty soon you’ll be at the back of the cave!
  14. Stay low and centered and your canoe won’t tip.
  15. The counselors at camp are some of the coolest, craziest, most awesome people you’ll ever meet.
  16. Paint Wars is better than video games.
  17. Keeping your stuff organized makes it easier to find what you need later.
  18. Oreo fluff is the best dessert ever made.
  19. Flip flops are not actually a very practical shoe.
  20. The best way to relax is by floating on a tube down the river.
  21. Listening to others is just as important as speaking up when you have an idea.
  22. Trying new things is a great way to learn about yourself.
  23. There’s no right or wrong way to worship.
  24. Walking is good for you.
  25. The pool slide isn’t as high as it looks from the top, and you’ll be so glad you tried it!
  26. Spend time getting to know everyone in your camp. Everyone has something to share.
  27. Always remember to thank God for all of the fun you’re having.
  28. Don’t let yourself get distracted while playing GaGa ball.
  29. Never run on the slip ‘n slide…it’s slippery!
  30. If you lost something, try checking the Lost & Found!
  31. I can remember to brush my teeth without being reminded by my parents.
  32. I’m actually really good at kayaking.
  33. God loves me a lot.
  34. Blowing a puff of air in one end of a pool noodle is a good way to blow water out the other end and soak your friend.
  35. The only way to cross the Islands in the challenge course is with a lot of teamwork.
  36. The feathers on an arrow in archery are called the fletching.
  37. Glow in the Dark kickball is even more fun than regular kickball.
  38. The first step in building a fire is finding kindling.
  39. I’m actually quite an artistic person. My arts & crafts project turned out great!
  40. You can make French Toast in a Dutch Oven.
  41. I can be confident when I want to be.
  42. I’m a pretty cool person.
  43. I am strong. I made it to the top of the rock wall at the ropes course!
  44. Nature is fascinating when you take the time to enjoy it.
  45. I can go a whole week without my phone and it’s totally okay.
  46. God will meet you wherever you are, no matter what you’ve done.
  47. When someone is feeling sad, I can help to make them feel better.
  48. Teams that have a strategy and a plan are more likely to succeed.
  49. 9-Square is an addicting game.
  50. I want to be a summer camp counselor when I grow up.
