Why Volunteer At Camp Bear Creek

Even if you can’t commit to a full summer at camp, it’s still possible for you to be a part of the amazing ministry here at Camp Bear Creek. Join us as a volunteer and help bring smiles, laughter, growth, and adventure to to the camp community.

Think about some of the most influential people in your life. Sometimes, all it took was a moment, a smile, or a kind word to make a difference. We invite you to volunteer for an afternoon…a day…a week…whatever you have to give. Trust us, it’s enough to make a life-lasting impact.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have many volunteer opportunities for you and/or your group.

Kayaking…archery…swimming…our summer camp volunteers step in as counselors for a week or two of camp. They get to experience everyone’s favorite camp activities and be a part of the community and the mission here at Camp Bear Creek. It really will be one of the most special weeks of your summer as you help to care for, lead, and teach our campers right alongside our summer staff.

Our TTT Camp program serves 4th grade girls from under-resourced homes from throughout Iowa. The vision is to provide a camp experience for girls who need it most, equipping them with the tools they need to believe in themselves and to see that they are not defined by their circumstances. We want them to feel valued, cared for, and loved. We depend on female volunteers who believe in this vision and want to be a part of providing this experience for girls.

Each week during our summer camp program, we are fortunate to have a resident pastor who volunteers their time, energy, and wisdom to help lead and support our worship experiences, devotions, and various activities as our camp chaplain for the week.

“I can’t say enough about Camp Bear Creek and the effect it has had on my life. God is so good. This summer I found what makes me the happiest.”

“Expect to grow up at camp (in a good way). When I hear people talk about camp I hear them talk about 2 things always. They learn more than they ever expected to and the impact on their life was far greater than they could have imagined. Camp makes people grow as a person to make decisions, build relationships, and especially learn about Christ.”

“Ten years ago, my mom sent me to my first summer camp. I never expected to like it or fall in love with those 400 acres outside of Wyoming as much as I have. Ten years later, a chapter in my life has closed and I’ve finished my time as a camper. I have made so many friendships and memories from this place that I’ll never forget, as well as grown so much spiritually. I’m super excited for my next chapter, and thrilled to say that Camp Bear Creek just happens to still play a part in it and always will.”

“Not everyone at camp is the typical ‘camp person.’ When coming to camp for the first time, I imagined everyone to be overly-excited, creative, and great with children. Camp attracts all sorts of people, they all have their own awesome qualities, and you have to be ready to work with all of them. After all, it’s the people that make camp great.”
