Abby Lumsden

Abby grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa. If you were to visit her home, you would see her two, huge saltwater fish tanks with with very cool tropical fish. She loves taking care of them. Currently, Abby is a Physical Therapy Assistant major at Indian Hills Community College. She enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, going to the gym, and walking her dog. One random fact about Abby: she’s allergic to kiwi!

Abby came to Camp Wyoming as a camper for 10 summers. She says some of her favorite camps were Night Owls and Extreme Adventure and says, “I always had a great time at camp, and I always loved meeting new friends and counselors.” Now, she’s excited to join the staff as a counselor herself! Abby can relate to the kids who might be a little nervous about coming to camp. “As someone who has been a camper many times, I know it is intimidating to leave everything comfortable at home (friends, parents, electronics, etc.) and come to camp, but it will be so worth it. By the end of the week, you won’t want to go home!”

One thing that Abby is looking to most this summer is worship every night around the campfire and meeting new people. She connects best to God through being in nature, worship, and singing, so she’s anxious to be back at camp and gathered together with the camp community. During her busy college schedule, she carves out time for worship in the car. Abby says, “I may look a little crazy to people driving by me as I’m singing worship music at the top of my lungs!”

Abby’s favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 16:13-14: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”
