Ben Wilding
Ben grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and is an Elementary Education major at the University of Iowa. He grew up coming to Camp Wyoming, and is joining us this year for his second summer as a counselor. Ben says, “I always loved going to the lake, swimming in the pool, and playing field games.” You might recognize his last name. That is because Ben has two older brothers, Jake and Bill, both of whom also worked for at least one summer at camp! He’s ready to carry on the Wilding tradition here at camp, and we are excited for all that he has to offer.
Just like his brothers, Ben is a huge sports fan. He loves watching sports, whether that is baseball or basketball or anything in between, and he loves talking sports with anyone who will join the conversation. He also enjoys playing video games and watching movies when he has some free time. At camp, Ben can’t wait to help put together sports and field games like Ultimate Frisbee, 9-Square, or even Touch Football. Ben is also a big fan of music and likes punk, alternative, rock, and rap.
Thinking about this summer, Ben says, “I am excited to get outside and to connect with god through nature.” He is really excited to be back at camp, a place that has always been important and special to him. Ben connects best to God through writing and singing, so he is ready to help lead worship around the campfire this summer.
Ben’s favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
