Christina Nash

Christina lives in Iowa City with her husband, Steve, and two daughters, Sidney and Lexi. She never had the opportunity to attend camp while she was growing up, but she was introduced to Camp Wyoming through her two daughters. Christina talks about trying several different summer camps with her girls and says, “It wasn’t until they discovered Camp Wyoming that they keep returning and asked their friends to join them.  They had the most amazing experiences at Camp Wyoming they started attending Winter Camp as well.”

Christina graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Health and Sports, emphasizing in Health Promotion. She now works at the U of I in the Health and Human Physiology department. She teaches PE and wellness classes to undergraduate students. Her husband Steve is a Sgt. Deputy Sheriff for Johnson County. Their girls are both in high school. Sidney is on both club and school swim teams, is an active Girl Scout, and loves going to youth group at church. Lexi competes in volleyball, track, and softball. Completing their family are two rescue cats, Chloe and Stella. Yes, poor Steve is the only man in a house full of women! As a family, they enjoy having dinner together and watching movies.

When she isn’t at work, Christina loves to attend her girls’ sports games and watch them play as much as she can. She likes to work in her yard, go running, and teach group fitness classes. Growing up in LeMars, Iowa, Christina’s parents instilled in her a firm faith foundation and belief in God, raising her in the Catholic Church. They worked very hard to ensure that she and her siblings were able to go to Catholic school and receive a Christian education. However, Christina always longed to experience overnight summer camp. She was so happy to be able to provide that experience for her girls.

When asked why she chose to join the Camp Wyoming Board of Trustees, Christina said, “The way my girls felt when they talked about Camp Wyoming or when they didn’t really want to leave camp when their session was over, I was hooked.  My girls had such amazing experiences, and I wanted to make sure the generations after them will be able to have the same (or better) experiences and memories too.”

Christina’s favorite Bible verse is John 13:7: “You may not understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”
