Lydia graduated from Hawkeye Community College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She hopes to one day be a preschool teacher or work in a daycare. Currently, Lydia lives in Cedar Falls with her family, but she actually grew up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. When she’s not studying and working, Lydia likes to listen to music, chat with her family and friends, or go for a walk.
Lydia admits that she can be more of a shy, quiet person, but she is very cheerful and friendly. This will be her third summer on staff with us. She is known for her patience, her sense of humor, and the joy she brings to everyone around her. Lydia is looking forward to improving her own skills, helping others to improve themselves, learning, making friends, and having fun in Christ Jesus.
Lydia connects best with God through singing. She challenged herself this past year to step out of her comfort zone and sing as part of the choir and worship team at her church. It was an amazing experience for her, and she has even helped lead some of the youth singers at her church.
Lydia’s favorite Bible verse is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
