Matt Gessner

This will be Matt’s second summer here on staff at Camp Wyoming. He never got the opportunity to go to camp as a kid, but he wishes he could have! He explains, “That is why I am excited to help make camp Wyoming a blast for all the kids who are coming to camp.” Matt is graduating from Iowa State with a degree in Animal Science. He grew up in Watkins, Iowa, and his hobbies include games…all kinds of games! He enjoys board games, video games, party games, you name it. He love playing all of our Camp Wyoming games and playing them with campers. He also enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and as he puts it, “anything that involves dogs…especially my dog.” Aside from God, Matt claims that his dog is his favorite thing in life!

At Iowa State, Matt is a member of the Navigators Campus Ministry, which is what inspired him to spend this summer and last in camp ministry. His favorite way to connect with God is through reading his Bible. This summer, Matt is looking forward to “being challenged in new areas to share my faith and encourage others to do the same, helping put Christ at the center of the environment at camp, worshiping God, and playing fun games with the campers.”

Matt’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:8: “But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.”
