Michael Keilman

Michael is a student at Iowa State University where he studies Food Science. Originally from Roselle, Illinois, he has decided to stick around Iowa for the summer and join us for his second summer at Camp Wyoming! He never went to camp as a kid, but he says that makes him treasure his experiences as a summer camp counselor even more. He’s most looking forward to “working with the other staff members to create a great camp experience for the campers.” He loves being a part of the camp community and learning all of the games and traditions at Camp Wyoming.

In his free time, Michael likes to read, watch movies, play volleyball with his friends, and play card games and board games. He’s a very out-going and fun-loving person, which makes him an ideal person to be a camp counselor! Michael also has a musical side to him. He loves playing the guitar and singing show tunes. He was in theater all throughout high school. On a trip to Spain, he even had the opportunity to learn flamenco dancing from gypsies. It makes sense then that his favorite way to connect to God is through singing and music. He loves when the worship atmosphere is just electrifying and everyone is so excited to sing praises to God.

Michael says that he is just really excited to be returning to Camp Wyoming to spend a summer living in community with other people who love God. He also can’t wait to share that love with the campers who come.

Michael’s favorite Bible verse is 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
