Sherry Orris
Sherry is the Kitchen Manager at Camp Wyoming. She was born in Monticello and grew up on a small family farm in the Wyoming area, so she has lived near the camp for most of her life! She and her husband live on a farm where they keep cows, goats, chickens, ducks, cats, and new to the crew, a puppy! They raised one son and have three grandchildren.
In addition to her farm work, Sherry drives a school car for the local Midland Community School district taking children to and from school. Of course, she also works with us here at camp! Sherry is responsible for all of the delicious food we serve! She helps to create the menu, order food, organize the kitchen, schedule cooks, and you’ll often see her in the kitchen cooking as well. Her favorite thing about camp is that children of all ages are welcome and get to come to enjoy being outdoors. One of her favorite times of the day is when, after each meal, the kids and counselors sing songs together. Sherry and the cooks love listening to the noise and the joy from the kitchen.
Sherry likes to spend her spare time with her grandkids. She also enjoys working in the yard and watching birds. She and her husband will often go on motorcycle or car rides together. This quiet part of eastern Iowa is home for Sherry, and we are so thankful that she chooses to bless us at camp with her gifts.
Sherry’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope, fill you with all the joy and peace, as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
